Laura Tovey, Assistant Country Manager in Ghana tells us about a new project in which our volunteers are always involved in journalism.

Running With an initial print run of 1,000 copies will be available to the vision available to those who do not have regular access to the Internet. All journalism volunteers in Ghana now have the chance to one or two days work a week, the Vision.

More than 42,000 people live on Buduburam camp, established in 1990 to record a segment of the Liberian people through the civil war in Liberia started on 24 December 1989 postponed. To meet the needs of this population, The Vision was founded in May 2004 by Jos Garneo Cephas and Semantics King Jr., two journalists from Liberia. Says With its emphasis on human rights stories King Jr., the goal of the vision is to "information for the purposes of education, awareness social awareness and support for the new democratic process in Liberia. This is achieved by providing a forum for setting the agenda of matters achieve the interests of refugees, even the refugee public officials accountable. "

Several Projects Abroad volunteers have already visited the camp where he made contacts in order to hunt out the most important messages. The volunteers can also work with other stages of production, including editing, Proofing participate and training for current employees.

Projects Already deposits abroad and works with newspapers in India, Bolivia and Romania. Mircea Samoila, Director of Ghana, edited our magazine in Romania for a year and helped to set up the journalism project in India. When asked why he was with the vision wanted to participate, said Mircea, "access to information is a right, and a particularly urgent need for the Liberian refugees at the moment. They have also the right to be present for their situation to their host country [Ghana] impartial and honest manner, unclouded by prejudice and ignorance. Projects Abroad Pressure is the sponsor of The Vision, so that they can provide these rights to the Liberian refugees in Ghana. The inclusion of our own journalism volunteers in the Production of the paper will ensure that the situation of Liberian refugees outside Ghana as well known, and that their story is also told from a Western perspective. "

Already the editorial team is looking into the future. Once the vision is restored in printed form, King Jr. has plans for expansion. It aims to the new standards of professionalism is something volunteers help by keeping their skills and experience to help the formation of a permanent staff. Founders The newspaper also plans to take back to Liberia. Every day more refugees return to their homeland, brought by the hope of peace, the election of Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf inspired as President and it is important for the vision to go with them.

King, Jr. said: "My exact plans for the Vision for Liberia about them as the only national paper that would pursue exclusively with issues of human rights continue educating and informing the Liberian citizenship of their basic human rights, which in turn would enable them to protect their rights and those of others. This knowledge will help to slightly violate the legal rights identified by the government not only, but is used by other political leaders. That is my vision for … The vision. "

Moving Abroad

India volunteers, Alice French Thurman and Ben talk about their weekend cricket, cows and controversially discussed.

"On Saturday, February 10, for the third time, gathered volunteers from around the world to the powerful employee projects abroad to a game of cricket challenge. The volunteers were something like a disadvantage that only three real cricketers among them but, with the assurance that the game would not be taken too seriously, spirits remained high.

Volunteers suffered a setback as the beginning of their attempts captain Simon Walker – unsuccessfully – for the ball with his head in pre-match practice on the field Friday night. He was transferred to Hospital brought, and although declared fit to play, it was clear that his performance suffered as a result. In addition, our ranks have been more than an important member the team of volunteers depleted mysteriously fell ill the night before the game. Sabotage was suspected.

We were all rudely awakened to the supernatural, and frankly unfair, from 6 hours (thanks Pabbu!) In order to match on the pitch in time for the "fun". While looking around the breakfast table, asked was: how was such great fun all at this hour have the day! The so-called "fun match" consisted solely of volunteers – cunning in Team A and Team B split – All desperate to prove their value on the cricket pitch. Some impressed with their ability to find, while others play a little more challenging. Alice French, our captain caused some serious problems of selection, but not quite the final XI (or) fit into the kit. Frederick Isler had the misfortune to rolled out first ball, as after a golden duck, or – as a volunteer Leonie Lawrence remarked – it was a golden eagle? Nevertheless, he somehow managed to make the team. Sexism was suspected.

The actual game begins with the projects abroad, first with an eyelash employees. Rajendran, who opened an eyelid, blasted In the game with a dynamic, sadly cut short when he passed by Pandi. However Pandi's stint at the crease was also short lived because after a brilliant little bowling of Ben Thurman, he was caught by Alice Lindsay, or "Big Al", as they are called happy. Regardless of their incessant excuse is it is unlikely the two ever really friends again. Victor, the imposing opposition captain, then stepped into the fold, and despite some inspiring bowling from Freddie Swift managed to keep his door until he was expertly caught by Alex. Another highlight was Fred Miles' surprisingly sporty pieces Fielding, who in discharge Pabbu's. Buoyed by significant contributions from the rest of his team – and despite alternative Bowling Frederick Isler style – Victor headed the Projects Abroad Employees to a healthy total of 146th

Innings, the volunteers "had a promising start with an excellent state of the opening 70 between Ben Thurman Swift and Freddie, before the decision to bring inspiration Pabbu grid in order to bowl, resulted in his dismissal of the former 23rd A catastrophic collapse by mid – followed, as Simon and Tom were returning to the hall, almost before they reached the gate. Freddie "Man of the Match" Swift controlled the innings, with the help of Fred Miles, 10, before being dismissed on the 80th This left Frederick Isler and Leonie Lawrence, to the tense conclusion of this exciting game, and it was here that we saw Frederik place in the team justified such as the Swiss superstar transferred to cricket in his first game. In the last more than controversial, Leonie Lawrence was expired as to go for the run to the To tie the game. The volunteers were left abandoned and dejected when they lost the game, run by a mere 1 to the far more experienced Teaching & Projects Abroad page. Victor's hitherto unseen competitive side shone through ecstatic when he lifted the trophy in the air (though not as high), and the Writing on the back of his shirt said everything! Alice Lindsay batted well.

Despite the wet weather unwelcomingly, painfully early start and occasional dips of cows on the pitch, it was overall a very successful day enjoyed them all. So, by all the volunteers, a sincere Thank you to the staff on projects abroad, but also a warning that this defeat was only a minor setback and will only make us stronger, so that next time – Watch Out! Moving Abroad Spain

Moving Abroad Spain

We came to Sri Lanka shortly after the completion of our final school exams in Ireland. We wanted to do something different (and not just basked in Spain) and that is exactly what we found in contrast.

Our first day in Kanishta Vidyalaya School in Mawala is unforgettable! After just 14 years ago as students at home, as "teachers missing called "took some time to get used to it. We started our day at 8 clock in the morning and ended at 1.30pm with a 20-minute break in the middle. We taught from Class 1 to Class 11 (which was strange as most students were in the same age as us).

The older students liked to talk and a lot with the occasional to write hard-fought game of hangman. The younger students used us as human jungle gyms, as they sang (or shouted) songs to us. Needless to say that life has exhausted us. Within the first week we were bombarded with little notes of the girls say "my friends are Ali and Katie." Three students even knelt down to thank our feet after an hour!

When they began their trials in Mawala we moved to Welapitiya Montessori in Panadura to decorate the walls. The three teachers there were so friendly and it was their responsibility to feed ourselves as much as possible. One day we will actually ate a whole loaf of bread and a couple of bananas each … I kid you not! We decorated the outside walls added (no pressure on us all!) And Katie but she grew penguin "Pengui!

For our last week we have taught English at the Panadura Buddhist temple. There were six boys aged 12 to 14 Of course there were the exception ever candidate of the head monks of our class who giggled in the corner and was disappointed when he did not get the gold star! Her English was amazing, and they were so eager to learn. We could not believe it when we tried to play a game and they preferred to read and write. They were the nicest and friendliest people we've ever met and they leave, is difficult.

We arrived here and I think one months would seem a very long time, but now we want to be love or two months About the Author:
